EAST Hampshire residents will have to travel further to get their Kentucky Fried Chicken fix as the nearest branch to Petersfield has suddenly closed its doors.

The final order was placed last week at the KFC branch in Cowplain with closure notices appearing in the windows of the London Road store earlier this week.

Shop fitters have wasted no time picking the bones of the branch with the signs already being removed.

The branch closed following a takeover with staff being moved to alternative restaurants, with Bedhampton now being the closest KFC to Horndean, Clanfield and the southern parishes.

However, the fast food giant remains keen on opening a branch in Petersfield, with the Buckmore Park site by the A272 McDonald’s services being a suspected future location.
